Paul Fletcher, designer of the Bill Mason 'Heavy Duty' Special and Fletcher's Fancy canoes, brings to the North experience gained from working with the canoe builders of the famed Otonabee Valley of Ontario, where in the middle of the 19th century, the first white man's canoe was extracted from the beautiful lines of the Indian canoe. Techniques and materials have remained unchanged. Ribs and planking of local white cedar form the structure of our canoes. Hardwoods of select red oak, white oak, cherry, maple and ash provide trim and strength. |
