Paul Fletcher, designer of the Bill Mason 'Heavy Duty' Special and Fletcher's Fancy canoes, brings to the North experience gained from working with the canoe builders of the famed Otonabee Valley of Ontario, where in the middle of the 19th century, the first white man's canoe was extracted from the beautiful lines of the Indian canoe.
Techniques and materials have remained unchanged. Ribs and planking of local white cedar form the structure of our canoes. Hardwoods of select white oak, cherry, maple and ash provide trim and strength.

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Paul Fletcher, founder of "Fletcher Canoes". My Uncle, the visionary, creator, dreamer and maker. My mentor. I will continue to build each canoe in his memory and with the precision that he taught me. As you paddle your "Fletcher" this year, think of him and silently thank him for his gift of a beautiful canoe.
